Stephanie Lüning

„Hello Lübeck! Dialoge mit der Kunsthalle St. Annen“, 02.12.23

Collecitivity Paintings, 2023

"Collectivity Paintings" by Stephanie Lüning are designed as a process: Using natural colours that the artist produces from regional plants, ice cubes are dyed in bright colours. Visitors can arrange one ice cube each on a large-format canvas. The melting of the ice cubes creates colour fields that merge together. The blurring of boundaries, the withdrawal of control by deliberately allowing an open process and a site-specific temporality that only allows the work to be experienced in the moment are key aspects that characterise Stephanie Lüning's work.

HOPE | HOFFNUNG, 2023

The second work, "HOFFNUNG | HOPE", invites visitors to appropriate the exhibition space and create a spatial sculpture together. It is based on the word hope, which is made up of holes, into which visitors can insert brightly coloured straws of cane, creating an increasingly dense spatial drawing over time. The fragile stalks of coloured cane can easily break. The artist presupposes a conscious handling of the material. Stephanie Lüning thus points out that our future is also inherently fragile.
